Our Purpose

Great wine sparks meaningful conversation.

Pull up a chair.

This isn't about becoming a wine expert. It's about slowing down, sharing stories, learning something new, and enjoying good company over thoughtfully selected wines — led by Jeff, your favorite neighbor who happens to know a lot about wine.

Meet Your Host

Jeff Graves

WSET Level 3 Certified, 2024

Jeff didn't set out to become a wine guy. When he retired in 2020, right in the middle of those strange, slowed-down COVID months, he needed something to learn — something to keep his hands and mind busy. Wine became that thing. What started as curiosity turned, fairly quickly, into a genuine passion, and in 2024 he earned his WSET Level 3 certification, one of the wine world's more serious marks of formal knowledge.

Since then, that passion has taken him around the world — through Sonoma and Napa Valley, up into Oregon's Willamette Valley, twice through Italy, and along the Danube on a Viking river cruise that put him face-to-face with winemakers across Austria and Germany.

“Wine has this quiet way of lowering inhibitions — just enough to let a conversation go a little deeper, and let people stop performing and actually be with each other.” — Jeff Graves

That belief is the entire reason Corks & Conversations exists. Jeff isn't interested in impressing anyone with tasting notes — he's interested in what happens after the second glass, when the table gets a little quieter, a little more honest, and a lot more interesting.

What guests are saying.

We held a private wine tasting in our home for 12 people and it was amazing! Jeff's wine knowledge is incredibly deep and yet he struck the right balance of information and fun for our guests. He carefully curated a wonderful tasting flight, incorporating some personal requests as well. He answered everyone's questions and recommended fantastic cheese pairings for each wine. We will absolutely book another tasting party with Corks & Conversations!

I recently had the opportunity to attend a wine tasting hosted by my friend Jeff Graves of Corks and Conversations, and it was truly one of the most enjoyable and educational wine experiences I've had.

Jeff's passion for wine is immediately apparent, but what impressed me most was his ability to share that passion in a way that was engaging, approachable, and fun. As a Level 3 Sommelier, his knowledge is extensive, yet he never made the experience feel intimidating. Instead, he created an atmosphere where everyone felt comfortable participating, asking questions, and discovering new wines.

During the tasting, Jeff guided us through a wonderful selection of wines from around the world, including both Old World and New World varieties. He shared the stories behind the wines, explained how they were produced, discussed the characteristics of different grape varieties, and helped us understand what makes each wine unique. Just as importantly, he took the time to listen to everyone's thoughts and preferences, making the experience feel interactive and personal rather than a lecture.

What stood out most was Jeff's genuine enthusiasm for helping people appreciate wine in their own way. Whether someone was an experienced wine enthusiast or simply curious to learn more, Jeff met them where they were and made the experience enjoyable for all.

I left the evening with a greater appreciation for wine, a deeper understanding of what I enjoy, and a desire to continue exploring new varieties. If you're looking for a memorable event that combines education, conversation, and great wine, I highly recommend Corks and Conversations. Jeff has a unique gift for bringing people together and creating experiences that are both meaningful and memorable.

A night of wine and food pairings with Jeff and Mary is an easy recommendation—we absolutely loved our evening with them. Every bite was thoughtfully prepared and delicious, and each wine was expertly chosen to complement the food.

What really made the experience special was Jeff's teaching style. Rather than simply lecturing, he invited everyone into the conversation by asking questions, encouraging feedback, and making the tasting interactive and engaging. It felt like we were learning together, not just listening.

The entire evening was relaxed, full of laughter, and wonderfully unhurried. It created the perfect atmosphere to slow down, enjoy great food and wine, and simply be present with the people we love. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

I've been to dozens of wine tastings over the years, and nothing compares to a wine tasting with Jeff. His engaging and hospitable approach fosters a tasting environment that allows the group to come away with a deeper appreciation for wine — and for each other. A night of Corks & Conversations is highly recommended! You'll walk away with a deeper knowledge of wine and a deeper connection to those around you.

I've attended multiple wine tastings hosted by Corks and Conversations, and every one has been a fantastic experience! Jeff is engaging, personable, and knowledgeable, making each tasting both enjoyable and informative. His passion for wine is contagious, and he creates a welcoming atmosphere that makes everyone feel comfortable, whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or just beginning to explore. I always look forward to the next tasting and can't wait to attend another soon!
